Singapore Sentosa Island

Reached Sentosa Island by taxi from airport. 爸爸 say it's more economical and convenient to take taxi when there are 4 of us, especially going to further places in Singapore. We didn't have to pay for entrance to Sentosa since we're staying at Hotel Michael there. The reason to choose this hotel is because it's just a skip away from Singapore Universal Studios. It's under the Resorts World Sentosa Singapore group, and is more artsy type. However it's still quite child friendly. Why I say that? Because it still provide a stylish foot stool at the sink :) The rainshower is funny, we didn't know how to operate the shower at first and got wet in our clothes when we're trying to wash our feet in the shower. Haha ... The furniture is mostly wood based so we don't have to worry about smashing any glass tops, because it's relatively new, looks stylish and has artsy decorations which are actually lamps. It's a good size and with double beds, sufficient for us and young children.

Merlion Plaza is just a skip from Hotel Michael. See The Merlion at the background? Later we found out this Merlion at Merlion Plaza, Sentosa looks bigger than the Merlion we saw during boat ride.

First itinerary is visiting Underwater World Singapore where the new Dolphin Lagoon is located. We take the free shuttle bus from Imbiah Lookout after walking quite a while trying to find our direction. It's super hot and we're sweating so much. We forgot to change the children into lighter clothes after quick shower as everyone's too excited to go. So disappointed when buying entrance tickets at Underwater World as we won't be able to see the pink dolphin show as it's their mating season. No Meet the Dophin session :( Well... can't interfere when their nature calls right? Still manage to catch Fur Seal Live! show, just in time actually. Can see the seal in the background?

This is from the photo session, S$16 for this photo (for 2) taken by their staff and printed at the photo booth. Children say the seal fur is very smooth. And because they like seals so much, they say it's not smelly at all.

This is taken by me, the trainer is blocking :P

Right before and after the show, there are dolphins swimming about in the pool. Wonder is this the pink dolphin? They are not really so pink, just pinkish head and body is still grey.

This is the Touch Pool, only manage to get photos here. There is another booth with orange looking fish (not sure are they gold fish ka?) but not able to get any photos there, the action is too fast. Both children manage to "pet" the gold fish each

Inside Underwater World

Jelly fish display

Going into tunnel - almost like Aquaria in KLCC, but seems like the fishes are more colorful?

Not able to find water fountain in Underwater World itself. After going through the tunnel twice, we went outside. This is the Shark Sculpture.

Outside at the rest area, saw some peacocks. An Indian tourist family is feeding the peacocks potato chips and gave some to 姐姐 and 弟弟 for feeding. Never thought that peacocks eat chips.

After that is cable car ride. The children enjoy very much. There are 4 stations, 2 each way and actually you can hop off and on if you purchase the roundtrip ticket. We didn't know and already hungry so went to Vivo City for early dinner.

Tiger Sky Tower.. not for me, so just a photo. One good thing about Singapore is that water fountains are available at most places we visited, especially Sentosa. They're usually found near the public restrooms. Quite clean, so no qualms about refilling water there. We don't really have to buy drinks unless one fancies something other than plain water.

View of Merlion Walk, from Beach Station as we're there for Songs of the Sea. There was a huge crowd waiting for shuttle from Underwater World, so glad we left it early.

At Beach Station... we missed the 7pm show for Songs of the Sea so 爸爸 got tickets for the 8pm show. We took a tram ride to pass time, and most unfortunately it rained heavily when we boarded the tram :( We have no idea how to continue with Songs of the Sea, but the ppl at counter don't allow refund, only gave us some cheap plastic raincoats. By the time we got the raincoats on, the rain turned to drizzle. But big puddles of water are accumulating around the area - can you imagine almost like banjir. With such a crowd unable to get refund and trying to get in, we were totally squashed. I would say skip Songs of the Sea as it's expensive and not worth the trouble to be wet and squashed. No overhead roof, so it's a totally wet affair when rain came unexpectedly. We didn't enjoy the show and went back to hotel after it. No photo there due to rain and crowd.

Land of Dreams, just a skip away from Hotel Michael. The show is free and it's covered. So even during rain will not have to fret. Even though the performance is not as fancy as Song of the Sea, I'd rather go to this one as we don't have to get wet and it's not so crowded.
