Pantang larang at home

It's very strange for me that 爸爸 have so much pantang larang. He pantang on posting about the children sick. He pantang on posting about toilet training. Well, uncle, if don't post, how to remember what happened and how we handled it?

So we're home this weekend as 弟弟 is not feeling well. He was coughing quite terribly with phlegm, his nose is blocked and runny. He was even running mild diarrhea on Saturday evening. Kesian him :( so got to stay at home and rest. You see his photo from yesterday's post also look very tired.

He was having cough since school start in Jan. We decided to try using the chinese herbs on him from Eu Yan Sang called 八宝散. When that didn't work after 1 week (姐姐 maybe is older, she is ok after taking 八宝散), 爸爸 brought him to see chinese doctor near 姐姐 music school. He was getting a better .... After went for his birthday celebration he already run fever once. That's when we have to quickly bring him back to western medical doctor. Doctor suspect his 抵抗力 and lungs are "weak" and get related illness such as cough and flu easily. So he had to start "gas treatment" and medicine. Luckily he was ok and manage to get well before CNY.

Now that weather is so bad, and back to school after a strenous week eating heaty food, he started coughing again. Poor poor boy.

Wonder what we will try next? Already he was on some soup tonic since some time ago. Aiyo.... in this world where got such thing as 吃扑品 can heal. The chinese medicine sinseh even asked 爸爸 to stop that while he is on chinese medicine.

Some people say take manuka honey will help. But the children are allergy to it. So end up the bottle of manuka honey still sitting on the shelf.

I think maybe bird nest is next but it's so expensive.

Fireman here again!

The small field is on fire again today!
There are 1 small van and 1 fire engine here, they couldn't find their way here and we keep hearing their siren. I mean, these emergency vehicles should be equipped with GPS isn't it?

See the fire engine parked at the right side, circled in red.

There are still cars parked at the visitor parking, see this white car still there. Luckily the firemen manage to put out the fire near it. It was close!

Wind came and smoke....

When the water spray came on we saw rainbow colour appear near the water spray

Funny baby animal suits

Really cute baby animal suits are available now. The largest size is 18-24 months old baby. So not able to wear. However they get to pose with the hats. 这一对活宝 are really cute with the hats. Good way to entertain them while 爸爸 go to toilet for a while.

First they are bumble bee.

Then cow

Finally tiger

Samba King

Samba King is a new song at music class. This is the first time the children are singing and dancing to it. Very fun and sunny song. I just thought of taking photos as I saw another mommy taking video with her phone. Next time must take video too :)

弟弟 also like this song too.

Teacher mentioned before class starts that the children are now halfway through Book 3, and will go on to Book 4 soon. After Book 4, there will be a small assessment on playing, listening and singing. Then after Book 4 (if I did not misunderstood teacher) they will be going for class without mommy and only occasionally teacher will ask mommy to join. By that time maybe near end of the year or next year.

Last of Penang Hill's funicular train

A piece of news in today's newspaper. Our good ole' Penang Hill train will be making it's last run today. The government will replace it with another new type, and upgrading work is supposed to complete by Sept 28 (I think they meant it's this year).

Here's remembering that we also took a short trip on the red funicular train in Jan 2009.

This is the older wooden coach which started running in 1923 (according to the news). It's one of the historic display at Penang Hill. Apparently one of the red funicular train coaches will be displayed together at Penang Hill too.

We don't like crowds especially when now there's probably lots of ppl trying to get a last ride, so having these photos are good memories.

Immunization jab

姐姐 is having her 5 year old series of booster immunization jabs. She acts brave and just flinch a bit when the jabs sting. All smiles, and she always gets her gummy bear vitamins when visiting the PD for jabs. Today nurse recorded her height as 112.5cm and her weight as 17.5kg. However teacher Kogi recorded her as 116cm and 19kg. Ok, somewhere along that line.....

Here's a picture taken last month after her 1st jab. We were having pizza lunch after the doctor's visit and it has a inflatable chilli sauce bottle which she was eyeing.

Here's one of 弟弟 when he visit another doctor back in Nov'09. I think 爸爸 took his photo to help entertain him during waiting time. I just thought of adding this photo. We'll wait for year end for his next optional jab.

年初四 party

We attended 爸爸's good friend open house party. We took a picture with some cute rabbit figurines in their beautiful garden.

However we had to cut the trip short as we did not behave nicely. We had an earful from 妈妈 about how to behave. We promised we'd behave as good children next time.

年初一

These are my cousin's children with 姐姐 and 弟弟. L-R: 弟弟, 品宏,姐姐,克汉 (Last one I just 拼 by myself. Have to find out as my cousin gave very nice name to their children)

So how do my children and their children 称呼 each other? Are they cousin-cousin or just cousin? Maybe just go by name for their generation :) I think my children call my cousins as 表舅父. But my cousin's children will call me 表姑? hahaha... the chinese family 称呼 is so confusing. So all the adults are referred to as "Auntie/Uncle" nowadays no matter what the relation is.
At the playground opposite cousin's house. Up up and up on the highest slide.
弟弟: 姐, 很高!
姐姐: 弟弟, don't look down!

Finally they didn't slide down this old slide. Phew! And their father didn't bat an eyelash even though I'm nervous already. Apa la....
More manageable slide, still didn't get to slide down as it's too hot!

My Valentine

Guess only who remembered to give me a valentine? It's my dear 姐姐! She draw a Velentine card each to all of us, one for 爸爸,me,弟弟,公公 and 婆婆. Here is mine:

Her other drawings - Cinderella

And a picture of herself sailing. The angel is by me, I think she can already draw better.

Early CNY celebration at school

姐姐 and 弟弟 need to wear traditional costume at school for the CNY celebration. Also need to bring some tidbits for the class. They came back with loads of "goodies" (aka junk food). Luckily they believe me in the coloring story about the sweets and only played with them. Especially 姐姐.

It was quite difficult hunting for traditional costume for 弟弟. He refused to wear the heavier material type found at Carrefour. 好采 he agree to this light one from Tesco. Did you notice that the pants are quite short? In the catalog, the little boy wearing it as 3/4 pants. Alamak....

Girls' costume is easy to find. I like the sweet girlish look of this one she is wearing. Thus even if she already have another costume, we still buy it for her. My thinking is if she can wear it, better wear now.

Visit to temple near our home

The children paid a short visit to a temple near our home after school. There was a digger parked near the temple. Even though 弟弟 always like diggers and say "Oh, I see a digger, I'm so happy" but 爸爸 said he was afraid of being so close to one. See him standing further apart from the huge vehicle?

Heart melted when see this photo, 姐姐 is holding 弟弟's hand.

Remembering more rides...

More rides at QBM.

I tell you, both 姐姐 and 弟弟 scared this little girl in pink. Even if they invite her to join in the house, she refused and run away. It's so different from a year ago when they were the ones who were scared of other older kids. Now they are the older kids who scare other little ones. Time flies...
Oh, and that's the last we saw of the cutesy rabbit/mickey rubber bands on 姐姐's hair. We lost them at Dragon-i and now left only one.
