Visit to Penang Butterfly Farm

If I remember correctly, 姐姐 had just been to the Penang Butterfly Farm as her school field trip. She wanted us to go together as family. Ok, so here we are.

There were many different types of butterflies everywhere. Some are so big and flutter about, 弟弟 is quite scared sometimes. We weren't too interested in the yucky insect portion either. The children did enjoy playing with the butterfly stamp we found indoors, near the area where they were showing the butterfly life-cycle. Since we didn't have any paper with us, we use our tissues. See 姐姐 is holding onto the tissue like some very precious paper as she said teacher didn't show them during their school trip.

Another short visit since the children are still small and we didn't want to tire them out too much.

First Visit to Taiping Zoo and Taiping Lake

The first time ever we brought 姐姐 and 弟弟 to Taiping. We were there only to visit Taiping Zoo and didn't plan for any other places. It's another month to 弟弟 going on 2 years old, and 姐姐 has just turned 4 at this time.

The children were very happy to be visiting the Taiping Zoo. This is the first time they visit a zoo and see so many animals up close. We bring sandwiches as snacks and ate at one of the rest huts. We took the Zoo mini train which bring us around the grounds. It's a nifty way to go around without walking until our legs fall off. But it's always a long queue especially during peak season like school holidays and weekends. The mini trains are all decorated with animal prints, like tiger stripes, zebra stripes etc. We didn't take many photos as it's drizzling and the grounds were a little wet here and there.

After that, we were going to drive back home. We stopped by at Taiping Lake for a short walk. It's really pretty there with the shady and majestic trees. There's also a section of the lake with lotus flowers.

Just a short trip, but we were very happy since it's the first time we go for short trip together.

姐姐 likes to draw house. Here is a special drawing done by 姐姐 with 爸爸's help during her school holidays with the PC. I wonder how they did it, as her hand drawing is similar too.

Music Class Mini Concert

This is a backdated post on my music class mini concert. Since it's the 1st year the children are learning music, it's just group and individual singing and simple finger action on keyboard. No notes yet, we just make a sound like teacher teach us.

After going through the songs, we each receive a balloon and exchange gifts. I got a new watch!

Teacher say 'argh, children, why are the balloons blocking your lovely self, please put nicely'

Finally we manage to take nice photos... but 妈妈 is using cellphone, so the photos are not so clear.

Concert 2008 - Beaming Mind Beaming Smile

This one's at SEAMEO RECSAM. 姐姐 has one Indian dance and one Mandarin dance.

During the Indian dance, she didn't shake and rattle like the rest of the girls, she was more reserved and gentle.

For Mandarin song 小草 (Little Grass), she sang along the lyrics. Some of the kids were more focused on just dancing.

KL Aquaria KLCC and Genting trip

I couldn't recall if this is 姐姐's first trip to KL or she had been with us when she was even smaller :) This is a really back-dated post (for 4 years!) :P

First stop is Aquaria KLCC. At that time I remember 姐姐 does not like the dark ambient inside. She was after all just 3.5 years old then. I only remember it was of drab and dull grey and brown sea creatures, and the focus was on the river ecosystem found in Malaysia (maybe they had upgraded it by now?). Our camera wasn't able to take photos very well inside Aquaria, and we ended up with only a few photos. We were not so experienced travelling with a child too, so we didn't check out the feeding show times which most children like to watch.

Oceanarium @ Aquaria KLCC. It's a transparent underwater tunnel with a moving walkalator.

After a short time in Aquaria KLCC, we went to Suria KLCC, took some rides, walked around KLCC Park, and to see the Petronas Twin Towers in its full glory. Usually one needs to be very early to get a pass to go to the skybridge at Petronas Twin Towers. Up to now, we didn't have a chance to go yet.

Then our next destination is Genting Highlands! I think we stayed at the Resorts Hotel.

There are always busloads of visitors and at that time, we have to get a number.

The Genting Indoor Theme Park. 姐姐 enjoyed it very much! We stayed almost until they are closing :)

At Snow World, actually not allowed to take photos. And it's strange, we already paid additional entrance tickets (and it's expensive too!). Those money-minded business people still wanted to make more money taking our photos. We still took a few by ourselves quietly.

Genting Outdoor Theme Park
Next day, we went for the Outdoor Theme Park. With so many years had passed, I believe some of the rides had changed. We didn't go to the Water Park as 姐姐 is still small and we're afraid she might not get used to the cold weather at Genting Highlands. She enjoyed all the rides :)

OK, I'm not participating in anything with heights :P

I think it rained in the morning and we went to the Outdoor Theme Park near noon. However it rained again after several hours. We didn't manage to get on some of the rides like Antique Car as it rained, and we went indoors again.

Luckily we still have photos otherwise would have forgotten how the trip was. 弟弟 stayed with 公公婆婆 at that time as he was still too young to go with us. He was only 16 months then! I still remember we took this trip before I change to a new job.

Celebration of Learning 2008

Backdated post. So backdated until I couldn't recall what are the songs 姐姐 performed. This mini concert for Celebration of Learning 2008 is her first one. She only joined kindy for 2nd half of the year of 2007 and thus did not participate in the 2007 one. She is a November baby thus she was still only 2.5 years old when she started pre-school. At that age, when you are end-of-the-year baby or beginning-of-the-year baby is quite different.
