Mongkok 旺角, Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple 啬色园黄大仙祠, Snoopy's World - Winter Hong Kong with Children Day 1

Finally, we are off to Hong Kong! This trip is paid fully by 爸爸 from his pocket, so he's awfully broke when we came back :P He also planned the itinerary down to the details which MTR line to take and which exit to go to :)

Ours is early morning flight, see the nice skyline outside our Penang airport?
One moment it's still dark and next it started turning light.

This is the first time the children takes Cathay Pacific flight. Cathay Pacific does not provide children's toys or activity book for short-haul flights, so they were only watching the in-flight entertainment. Both watched Despicable Me 2 on the flight.
Toys that came with us, and the children's meal on Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong.  弟弟 say it's fish nuggets with pineapple and salad. They're given a roll, fruit cubes, ribena and yoghurt too.

Reached Hong Kong airport. 爸爸 immediately set to work to rent Octopus Cards for us, this Octopus Card will be preloaded and used on public transport around Hong Kong. The weather is cold, about 15 degree C.
The children helped to lug our luggages, and we have to take a train from our terminal to the main building.
We took a taxi to Stanford Hotel at Mongkok, near Ladies Market. In fact, there is MTR from airport to near the hotel but 爸爸 didn't want us lugging luggage with the two children.
Our room at Stanford Hotel, Mongkok.
Stanford Hotel is very near to Mongkok shopping and eateries if that's what you're looking for. It's located at Soy Street (豉油街) and a couple of streets away from Tung Choi Street (通菜街) which is Ladies Market. However Mongkok is super crowded at the time we visit and I didn't like the crowd at all.

It's about lunch time so we had lunch at a cafe near the hotel. We were seated near the side door, so it was cold :( Food was so-so, but the portion so big.

After lunch, we took MTR from Mongkok to Wong Tai Sin MTR station, Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple (啬色园黄大仙祠) is just a skip away from the station. We didn't burn incense, just simple prayers with our hands for a safe trip. It's a grand and beautiful place, being surrounded by modern tall buildings. However our little Penang temples are quite more quaint in my opinion.

Our next stop is Snoopy's World at New World Plaza, 3rd floor. It's a free entrance little park.
Some angles we can get nice blue sky

The only ride has a long queue, but practically everyone in the queue is an adult. Most of the kids who can play by themselves are at the Snoopy playground. Another observation, there are usually 1 kid with 2 or more adults. Children are really precious in Hong Kong :)
The only ride at Snoopy's World, a canoe ride. Waited for about an hour for it.

After 4pm, it started getting colder. We left Snoopy's World about 5pm for early dinner at Imasuke. We tried the noodles and salmon rice. Both taste good :) Totally forgot to take photo of the noodles and forgot the name of the dish.
Only had photo of the salmon with rice. 弟弟 ate up the noodles.
After dinner, we went to see Starlight Romance which was promoted by New World Plaza on Level 7. There's even a mini light show, all free :P The children quite enjoyed the dazzling lights.
One can take a photo from the lighted boat for a fee.

Looks dazzling on photo, but made my poor head spin with all the lights.

At night when we reached Mongkok station, it was sooooo packed around 7pm. So was Mongkok streets. We kind of lost our way a little and went the wrong way, so tired after walking for half the day. We passed by Ladies Market but the space was so narrow with all the stalls and so crowded, we gave up. Luckily both children are bigger and can walk by themselves, it is too crowded to push a stroller in Mongkok streets as the streets are narrow and the crowd is huge. Finally we went back to hotel and knocked off really early. 爸爸 went by himself after tucking us in for a stroll and to eat HK style curry fishballs 咖鱼旦. He said it's not as nice as he thought, maybe he didn't know which stall was better.

姐姐 wore Uniqlo fleece jacket, Uniqlo HEATTECH long-sleeve t-shirt (Hello Kitty print) and Uniqlo HEATTECH leggings. She said she is warm enough. 弟弟 is wearing the same Uniqlo fleece jacket, jersey from Poney and jeans. However he said he is cold by the end of the day. So for the next day we made him layer on the HEATTECH long-sleeve t-shirt.

Another comment about Stanford Hotel - the good thing about the room is there is heater! It dips slightly below 10 degree C at night/early morning so it's definitely appreciated. However maybe we didn't know how to operate it properly, somehow it became cooler late at night and 爸爸 switched it off.
